NORTON, George «Pidgie»


October 26, 1946 – April 11, 2018


Passed away at the age of seventy-one, with his much loved wife and best friend Janice Rice by his side.


He leaves his daughters : Dawn and Kim, his stepchildren : Keith (Candice) and Audrey (Tom), his grandchildren : Phoebe, Iohserontie, Tewakenhnhake, Tharonhiathe, Kahawakhon, Shakohentinetha and great granddaughter Darla. Predeceased by his parents: Peter and Hazel «Hemlock» Norton, his brother Louis and sister Selma.


Pidgie comes from a large loving family, his brothers and sisters : Edna, Elizabeth, Roger, Joe, Esther, Jennifer (Dennis), David (Lesley), Faye, Timmy (Noreen).


He leaves many nieces and nephews and great friends. He was an ironworker for fifty-two years, proud member of Local 40 N.Y.C.


He received the Dewalt Inductee Award into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1997. As a junior, he played hockey for the Lachine Maroons.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday April 12th, from 7 pm to Saturday April 14th at 2 pm, followed by a funeral service in the parlor and internment at the Protestant Cemetery, Kahnawake.


In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Kahnawake Minor Hockey Association or the Kahnawake Minor Lacrosse Association.
